Friends of Forgue Kirk Heritage Project

The Friends of Forgue Kirk completed the Heritage Project Forgue and its Kirk Past and Present in 2013. The project focused on the preservation and restoration of the interior of the beautiful Forgue Kirk.

In 2017 we are concentrating on the evidence of the Kirk site and building existing before 1819 rebuilding..

The work on the Kirk and the Session House Heritage Centre continues in Aberdeenshire year of Archaeology 2017.

The project is being shared with the wider community through a number of events including music on the Kirk’s original 19th century organ; heritage exhibitions in the church and the Session House.

The Friends of Forgue Kirk purchased the church in 1997 for the benefit of the community of Forgue when it was no longer required as a place of worship. Since then the building has been kept wind and weatherproof, the Session House now has a modern kitchen, facilities and a meeting room all of which are disability and family friendly. The 140 year old Conager organ has been restored and an area for socialising has been created at the rear of the Kirk.

Work on the Outreach Project continues into 2017 with our Heritage Open Day on Saturday 4th November 2017 10.00am-4.00pm.
